    Hi Twisted
Going through the old ETF posts looking for info on my next purchase and noticed you owned Ausnet shares.
I too own a few as I work for the company
Do you still own them? and what do you think their prospects for growth are?

    yes i still hold AST

    the problem is regulatory/political risk

so i would think the company will be focused on survival ( keeping a steady course until there are stable policies in place )

but where can they grow ( sensibly ) this is a debt laden sector

SKI for instance ( i hold them as well ) started a few years ago to focus more on telco services ( including NBN contracts ).

i am NOT unhappy with AST , but neither do i expect them to double or triple in price in the next 5 years .

Just been to a company roadshow and they're looking into renewable energy possibilities
They know they've been a bit slow on the uptake

slow isn't always a bad thing , there might be opportunities to pick up a struggling company or two , but more importantly they have waited for the tech to mature ( more )

i am a big fan of avoiding other folks mistakes

being late AND UNPROFITABLE ( aka clutching at straws ) normally ends badly

I've been looking closely at HVST and VTS
I have some money in my Bell account for a purchase
Waiting for a downturn in the market but VTS especially keeps going up!

i don't follow VTS but be careful with HVST ( i hold ) dividends are getting harder to harvest at a good margin ( at this relies on churning holdings to harvest divs )

i DRP HVST ( so am not desperate for the income currently ) others might find this trend disappointing and wait for a market correction ( or crash )

i had previously thought of ORG as a potential core holding ... but when will the fire sale stop BPT bought the best part ( i hold BPT ) why would i hold the rest ?? ( when i was finally also back in profit )

AST and SKI have made rational decisions even if they were unexciting ( but isn't that what defensive stocks are all about ??)

i hold other stocks that make big gains ( at higher risk )

    vomit

There's only one way the share price can go long term (down). Any (especially high turnover) ETF has the same problem, capital gains are returned to the owner which acts as an anchor and works against compounding. Sure you can DRP, but IMO the high cost and flaws in high turnover make the idea unpalatable.

i am hoping timing of the buying ( of extra units ) will mitigate some of this ( assuming there is nasty correction in my lifetime )

i certainly wouldn't want to have more than 10% of my investment cash in this .

but it should go well as the market recovers from a crash of major downturn ( as P/E values plummet )

as long RS looks CLOSELY and thinks CAREFULLY

this is a whole different ball-game to VAS or VHY so i would suggest it needs a special strategy if you decide to buy in
