    Hi,
We are in the process to create a brand name and will be registering a trading name for that...However we will also want to register a 2nd trading name and website for what this brand actually sells...

I understand that it is possible to register multiple trading names in a state and it is suggested to record keep these separately. However, there wont be much of an activity under the 2nd trading name...Will we have to record keep and report for the 2nd trading name we are basically just looking to hold onto? We just want to buy the right to trade under that 2nd trading name, so that no one else can, even though that trading name will practically left idle...All our invoices will be in the brand name...

    Thanks.

I think it is not the name that is registered but the entity behind it. This will probably be yourself.

If you are creating a brand and websites etc, then it may pay to think ahead a bit and set up an appropriate structure to hold these and another structure to take a licence and operate the business. Also trademarking the name should be considered.
