    Hi Johnny,

You certainly know your way around the ETF maze.
Do you use ETFs for personal or professional investments? (Are you a trader or planner, or personal investor).

The biggest hurdle can be helping clients understand the creation/redemption process in Australia.

    Hi Dan,

I am a private investor. Investing/learning fills my retirement.

I lost big time during the financial crisis. It taught me a lot about risk management.

Simplicity using index funds is my interest.

Why CFS Wholesale Index Australian Bonds rather than Vanguards VGB JCL?

Because VGB only came out on April 2012.

    Ahh okay

Would you now prefer VGB or VAF if you had a choice?

    Redwing,

I hold VGB at the moment. It is made up of Australian Federal and state bonds. It did fall 5.4% last year. Perhaps it would of been better to buy VAF which is made from Australian Federal bonds, state bonds, Government entities and corporate bonds. VAF only fell 2% 2012-2013.

How would this have performed Johny?

A quick look (no rebalancing, dividends etc) shows roughly

    VAS 20%
    VTS 70%
    VEU 35%
    VAP 30%
    BNDS -8%

Rebalancing via dividends and/or topping up/investing would have increased those numbers from Nov 2011 to now
