Can capital losses (eg. realised capital losses from selling out of shares at a loss) be carried forward from year to year to offset against future capital gains?
(eg. may have no relised capital gains this year but may have realised capital gains a couple of years down the track.

Note: no trusts involved just simple investment under own name.

Yes, capital losses will be carried forward to be offset against future capital gains - this is true in both personal and trust structures.
