    Top speed

    Quote from the article :

"The Suzuki Swift hits 100/kmh in 10.0 seconds and has a top speed of 190kmh."

Hmm I think the journo was smoking some of the same stuff the Swift driver was - 190 km/h in a Swift ??? Maybe if it was tied to the Lamborghini ?

I have a 1.3L Daihatsu Charade that I'm pretty sure would get to 190kph if I was game enough to try it. Would take a while though.

I got my MX5 up to about 180 and it scared the bejesus out of me  Admittedly it was a country road strait out the back of Oberon with a sharp bend coming up that I had to throw the anchors on for. That bend just seemed to be leaping at me.

You could probably get anything up to 190 if you had a steep enough hill and disengaged the transmission. ;)

    Cheers,
    Michael.

I dunno Michael - as a youngster determined to get my stock standard Mini 850 to wind off the speedo, I could only get to 90mph flat out down a very long hill, till the fanbelt flew off and I thought it was gonna take the bonnet with it :)
The engine went from warm to cooked in 3.5 seconds :)

Of course now I watch the kids in their Subaru WRX's doing ridiculous things, with a trillion more horsepower, and "tut tut" that kids are so stupid.

Bah humbug, what it is to become old and develop a respect for human life :p

    OK, I'll go navigator! ;)

It may come as a surprise but it all depends on the model of Swift. The Swift GTI is one on the fastest track cars you can buy in standard production form, and probably manouvres a lot better in traffic than a Lamborghini!

Second gear in Swift GTI is not as good as should be, but even standard Swift is moving well.

    Variants

True, if the GTi model was mentioned, I would be less 'incredulous' about 190 km/h :) (Wiki pedia claims 145 km/h max. in fact for the standard variant, and 185 km/h for the GTi ;-) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Swift )

I have no doubt ANY model of Swift manouevres better in traffic than the Lamborghini. The Lambo driver (Sad, mid 40's plus, balding and recently-divorced as he may be :p) has to avoid all the bikini babes throwin' themselves at the car ;-)

    Drive safe :)
