Well the 3rd quarter has finished (September) though I haven't seen any signs of any distributions from my two funds (macq small growths trust, bt imputation fund)...

...how soon do we normally get them?

Also, unit prices seem to drop heavily after a distribution, is that the right time to buyin?

Distribution typically take anywhere between 1 and 14 days to be paid - depending on the fund manager.

Pre distribution you get to turn equity into cashflow with a capital loss, good if you want to pay off a non deductable debt from a deductable loan.

Post distribution you get a lower entry cost ( subject to market moves ) and you have 3 to 6 months to wait for cashflow depending on the fund.

Buying post-distribution may also lower your tax burden since less income is being generated from your capital.

With Macquarie, it took them 3 months to pay the distrubitions for Equinox Asia and Multi-stratergie Funds...

We only just got the June 30 ones in the last week!

I guess they hold onto the money as long as possible and clean up on the short term money market.

    Nope, it was another fund....

However, the distribution was 0.81% of the price, so in this case Navra distributed a higher % it seems

    Hi Dave

Just wondering which bank you use as current 3:00pm Friday and no money has hit my CBA account.

Its not the first time that I have noticed people mentioning receiving payment well before the funds are received in my account.

Anybody else have this problem and then which bank do you bank with?

    Cheers

    HandyAndy,

I think Dave posted above that it wasn't a Navra distribution he received already. The email I got yesterday said expect it in your account next Thursday or Friday latest.

    Cheers,
    Michael.

I just got my first distribution....from BT Imputation Fund.

My investment is $6500 however I only received a distribution of $58 for the quarter (i joined in early september).....was kinda expecting more.

In the statement, they only paid my for a fraction of the units which I hold...just want to know how the distributions are normally calculated...if someone could please flesh it out that'll be great.

Now if the Tax Refund could arrive soon too, it would be a very nice weekend. ;)
