I was looking through the dividend forecasts listed in comsec for the bank. some are showing high dividends.

However if I look through the history of dividends paid, they don't equal the forecasts. Are these forecasts accurate, or just speculation?

How can I find out what a company will pay out this year?

    Hi CRC,

Dividend forecasting is a bit like forecasting the weather, it's a guestimate.
Historical is what has actual been paid in the past.

Usually the Forecast's have "E" for expected as obviously every different research house could have a different expected dividend for a company.

After company's results they usually advise what the actual dividend to be paid per share is going to be. So as long as the company researching has had their company results recently you'll be able to find out the dividend per share for the next dividend payment date.

    Cheers,

    Dan
