    Matt

    Thanks for the link.
I've read through the document and it seems to me that private school fees cannot be claimed because private schools already receive a commonwealth subsidy.
    Is this correct?

    Cheers

BV that is correct school fees are not included. The Libs proposal did income them but not Labors. Labors doesn't even include uniforms. Also you must qualify for FTB A to get this.

    Is that Labor or Liberal:confused:

It's certainly one of the reasons I didn't vote Labor:D

Thanks for that Matt- I wasn't aware of these rebates. Though, I must say they hardly cover much these days, with all the "extras" on top of the fees. I now understand why my parents used to moan all the time about never having any change after handing out money to the five of us for excursions, incursions, charity days, book club etc. The wallet and purse drain just never stops when you've got school aged kids....!!

Yet another example of the 'Gimme Gimme Gimme' welfare, hand out, the Govt owes me everything attitude!

I absolutely agree we need to change the Tax System. Abolish refunds for school stuff and cut funding for private schools by 80% and give this money to public schools, for a start.

That will only place a bigger burden on the Education system as those parents who struggle to send their kids to private schools are forced out. Afterall it's only 5% who are seriously rich who it wouldn't affect much. ;)
