FHOG aligabillity

    hi everyone just wondering my wife and i bought a PPOR in my wifes name and were married 2 weeks later we just got it through before the wedding :) and after 12 months we rented it.but now we are married and she has last name does that mean i cant get the first home owners grant? or am i still elagable if i buy a property in my name only?

    Hi Bling,

    If your wife claimed the FHOG when she bought your PPOR in her name i'm pretty sure you can not claim the grant. I've included a link for the eligibility requirements in NSW for you to look at, and I'd say they're the same in every state or at least pretty close.

    You would of had to buy a house in your name before you married, or at least have signed a contract to buy before. Don't like your chances :p :mad:
