Looking for Financial Planning job

    Hi, guys

    I'm currently study part time DFS via Kaplan. Meanwhile, I would like to find a job as a trainee, anyone has any recommendation where to find this kind of job?

    I'm living in Melbourne.

    Hi Louis,

    Congratulations on starting a fantastic journey into the world of finance.

    There are a few other posts on the forum about this, after you complete the first two subjects ELC and Risk you can start looking around for jobs. Certainly once you have completed all four subjects you are much more employable. I would suggest that you would look for customer service roles to get experience and build on that experience and also on your qualifications.

    I agree with Daniel.

    I'm currently looking for an entry level role as well. I've completed my DFP however, I'm finding it quite difficult to find a job. I think it is partly due to the financial crisis (many firms have or are retrenching their employees) and the fact that I don't have experience in a firm. The only experience I have is as a super administrator.

    I think if you're in a position like mine, you have to be willing to start at absolute ground level; that is, in an assistant/PA role at a boutique firm and work your way up from there. Or even call centre/administration roles just to get some sort of industry based experience. I found that working in super, although it was largely data entry, really helped me with my DPS ( I did it with Kaplan as well).

    Also, if you haven't already done so, join up with a few job agencies that specialise in financial services.
