    NAB is out of touch
    22/05/2009

Unions say National Australia Bank is out of touch with the hard times facing its customers and its own staff. NAB is spending millions of dollars for senior executives to attend "professional development" seminars in San Francisco.

A bank spokesman said 24 senior executives would gather in San Francisco next week, two weeks after a previous group including chief executive Cameron Clyne returned from a similar seminar in San Francisco.

NAB has axed hundreds of staff in the last year and has ordered Australian staff to cut back on costs and interstate travel.

Sounds like this writer is out of touch with what it takes to stay ahead of the game - ie a commitment to continued development at the top end of the corporation.

That said, you'd think more and more business would really be looking to utilise 21st century technology using live video streaming and skype etc... they are dirt cheap AND convenient options compared to around the world travel.
