    Hi,

I bought an apartment off the plan in Melbourne and it now nearing completion.

I have been advised that it is ready for pre-settlement inspection.

Do I need to get a professional to do the inspection (approx $600), or can I do it myself?

Given it is a new apartment building, I assume I should be able to flesh out most defects myself? What do people recommend?

    Cheers,
    Trenton.

I'd go for a professional because even if you did find a defect or 2, how would you argue the point with the builder?

    Hi Trenton

Definitely recommend hiring a professional building inspector (preferably one who specialises in new builds) for this- a list of defects is necessary to ensure the builder repairs according to warranty. Best of luck.

    Hi Master

Try this fellow. He comes recommended from a very reputable BA colleague of mine from REBAA. (Real Estate Buyers Agent Association) Best of luck.
