    Mmmm... I skimmed through most of the replies but it didn't say which state/city she was looking to buy in- which makes a pretty big difference here. Still, interesting replies- seems like 50/50 response buying vs renting there. If I were her, I'd save for at least 12mths yet, work off paying off that debt and consider share renting with others until she's got some cash behind her. At least at her age, she's got time up her sleeve!

    It didn't mention what her or her father's income was but I would have recommended they both go halves in a home if they were struggling to find a place to rent.
