Thought we might start up a list of what people look for when searching for a good finance broker. For me the most important attributes are honesty and follow up communication. I got mightily sick of dealing with people who neglected (on a fairly predictable and ongoing basis) to return my calls or keep me informed during the entire process of lending.
Hence my switch to a more reputable broker :)
    So what do others think?

    Mine are:

    1. Bright, bubbly friendly personality

    2. Nothing is too much trouble attitude

    3. Understands my financing needs and is able to follow through on them

Fill these 3 criteria and they have my business (and they do !! Thanks Medine !!)

This pretty much applies to most of my team.

    Tom.

I think it goes without saying these days that the broker has access to a wide range of lenders and a variety of loan products and is impartial in their advice.

    What I look for is:

    1) a willingness to spend the time to understanding my investment strategy and where the finance fits into that strategy
    2) a sophisticated understanding of investment structures and investing generally
    3) responsiveness - I'm doing business at all hours, I expect the broker to cope with that
    4) a hard worker who's willing to negotiate hard on valuations and do what's necessary to meet the deadline
    5) the patience of a saint to cope with the bloody banks (and by the sound of the above to put up with me too)!

    My 2.2 cents worth.
