Hey guys. I just wanted to understand how the whole owning a granny flat process works. It's not for anything i am planning i was always just curious what are the requirements. I heard that the council has to approve a granny flat. What exactly needs to be in a granny flat to pass council approval? Why do not many people have granny flats if it can easily bring in a lot of rent income? What's the minimal requirements in a granny flat? Thanks.
Hi Sash It depends on which council you're talking about. They all have different rules and regs regarding complying dvpt. Best to ring them and speak to the duty planner to see what can/can't be done.
