RBA set to cut interest rates to all-time low
It will be very interesting indeed, I think this RBA would have a plausible case to defend any decision it made next week, but you'd probably think they will cut rates again this month, if not, definitely next...
That said I'm not an advocate for the feasibility of monetary policy right now, I think it is clearly not working effectively at all, but at this point cutting rates further can't really hurt much either...
Well a 50bp cut would be nice, however the conclusion based on the survey is clearly out of date. A day makes a big difference at the moment.
I think it will be a big pause at the moment, though it looks like an 81% chance of a 25BP cut according to the interbank cash futures market, presumably there is some chance (>0%) of a 50BP cut according to the futures, but I'm not sure how to work that out as the website is no longer listing it.
