Todays news: The ASX is expected to fall sharply after the US market took a hammering overnight in what was the worst trading day since March 13.

    Might be an opportunity Brenda??

Days like this remember the saying ...

"The Sharemarket exists to transfer wealth from the impatient to the patient."

DJI is only down 1.6%

I look at it, in that there may be some buying opportunities for Direct Shares as well as the volatility must be great for Navra :D

No, not nervous, more like a little excited as I might be able to buy more shares during a dip like today. I like to pay attention and will be checking the asx from time to time during the day. :)

Gee - with media headlines like "Wall Street in dizzying fall" and "US stocks went into a tailspin overnight ..." - it's no wonder some people get panicky !

Anyway - XJO down 1.2% just after opening, XSO down 1.3%, XPJ down 0.8% and XMM down 1.9% ... hardly something to cry about, but will be interesting to see which direction they head from here.

It wasn't as bad as fortold. I managed to pick up a few WBC but that was all. Nothing else really excited me.

I will just have to look forward to the new RHG float on Friday for some excitement. :D

With full respect to your problem...how on Earth you can be down 19K ??
Do you have a stop loss in place ??

PS - Next level on XJO which may or may not be hit is 6235.

Maybe Balboa simply has a two Million dollar portfolio?

Or a one million dollar resource heavy portfolio?

    See ya's.

Maybe the paper loss is less than the CGT you pay when you sell out.

Who says stop losses are for everyone?

Sorry to hear of your husbands troubles, it must be awful for him and for you. I wouldn't worry too much about the portfolio. Mine dropped by $5k today but most of it was big banks and good blue chip resources. I think they'll come back, bigger and better than before. ;)
