Super benefit to Charities

    A perosn is about to retire and has decided to gift some of his substantial superannuation monies to a charity of his choice. What is the treatment of charitable donations from a capital gains perspective?

    I don't think you could make the donation directly from the super fund as that would probably breach the sole purpose test. But never actually seen this one.

    Therefore take a pension or lump sum and then make a donation from that. Ordinary deductible rules would apply.
