I love Sydney too but the amount of road traffic is worrying me.
How do big cities like London, New York etc manage their road traffic?

IMO in order to solve our traffic problems we would need more motorways
and taxes on car usage so that people avoid using their car and catch public transport.

And then we will need more public transport but it's the only way to go
we can't have over a million cars driving on our streets on a daily basis.
On the other hand, I can't imagine myself not driving my car daily :D

    Cheers

    Hi Bill

Agree 100% - I loathe the traffic and will do anything to avoid driving through peak hours if I can!

Until the public transport improves, however, and the infrastructure is put in place to accommodate our growing population, we'll just have to put up with increasingly high tolls and our aging trains. I do believe that dedicated busways (such as the T Way from Rouse Hill to Parramatta) are the cheapest alternative and these are being expanded in areas where they're able to be (given road space!) but there's still so much to do.
