Thinking about buying first IP? Please help.

I'm probably in the same position as most first timers. I want to do something with my money that will hopefully benefit me financially in the long run.

Problem is, I have absolutely no idea where to start!

Could someone please point me in the right direction? Perhaps a checklist or guide to buying your first IP?

I just need some pointers to get me moving in the right direction.

(Is now a good time to be buying?)
