Quality apartments and townhouses are selling faster than they can be advertised.

The moment Newtown real estate agent Poh Ling Ee hangs up her mobile phone, it starts ringing again. She looks flustered. Everyone within earshot looks irritated.

"Sorry but I'm just so stressed at the moment," she apologises. "I don't know which way to turn. It's very hard."

The reason? She's selling an attractive two-level, two-bedroom apartment in a small security block in Chippendale and the demand has been overwhelming. Originally, the price was estimated to be $450,000, then $470,000. Now she's just been offered $500,000 and rising, almost by the hour.

I've had a similar experience and it makes it very hard for buyers
to buy anything decent and not pay above asking price.

    cheers
