Being new to equities...I suppose I've only known a Bull market.

What are the caracteristics of a bear market?

Is it a large drop followed by gradual declines?

    Is it gradual declines only?

Is it volatility and flatline 0% growth/0% decline?

Is it best to exit the market before a Bear or better to hold through?

Or do you just expect modest growth?

Is capitalising interest a bad strategy for a bear market?

My question relates more to Managed funds than Direct shares but comments on both are welcome.
