Seriously, why is this even a surprise? Anyone with half an eye open would have seen this coming months ago. Then the whole sub prime thing happened - that should have been an huge alarm warning people to get out immediately. I stopped looking at LPT's as an option for our clients *at least* 12 months ago. Back then yields were not great - a perfect sign that the market was heading for trouble (putting it in very basic terms of course).

Having said that, it might be time to start monitoring the market for possible future bargains.

Mark, what you say is true, however do we start pulling out of all companies with large borrowings? This could happen with any company with large borrowings.

bargain hunters are coming back into the market

Of course there is potential for more companies to implode, but could *now* be a good time to send off an application to buy into an LPT fund? Or is this timing-the-market impossible because it will bounce back rapidly anyway? How can one bargain-hunt? Thanks :D

could be, may not be.. but consider it this way.. as present its heavily discounted.. so even if it doesn't rebound quickly.. you are getting in cheap..

After been down another 3% this morning, the LPT index is up 1.5% now..

I bought SLF at $18.01 this morning and it's up to $19.00. That's up 5.5% already.

EDIT: Although still down from $22 last week.

    Hi Dave,

Yeah absolutely I couldn't agree more. What I meant was the initial shake up a little while back. In my opinion the worst is definitely yet to come.

    What me worried?

I have a few dollars invested in the UBS Property Securities Fund which has taken a bit of a hit. I have attached a comment from UBS re Centro which I found on their website recently.

All in all I'm not too concerned and will be holding as I am taking a long term view. I'll be keeping an eye on things though and might even buy more when I can.
